Punjabi Samosa

So winter is finally here and you got to do something to beat the hell out of it....And let me tell you how I do it... Simple! I cook up some hot fried Desi (Indian) appetizers to warm myself. So, it was the turn of making some Punjabi Samosas this weekend and I made the "world famous"(Yeah..That's how we Indians boast which is praise-worthy)Punjabi Samosa!! These delicious stuffed triangles are the true identity of any Indian. Your celebrations are incomplete if you don't include samosas in your menu. C'mon! Tuhanno Samosa ni pasand? ;). This is the perfect dish which can be served full of love stuffed into those pastries and a bit of calories too. I know many of you are really health conscious but I would suggest making these once in a while, to satisfy your guilty pleasures!! Ting!! Ingredients: 2 cups of plain flour (maida) 1 tsp ajwain (carom seeds) 1 tbsp ghee (clarified butter) 4-5  big potatoes 1 cup of boiled peas 2 inch ginger (finely chopp...

Aloo Tikkis (Potato Cakes)

The thing I most miss in the UK is the sound of "Taka Tak" made by the street food vendors on their tava while making pav bhaji, aloo tikki, patties etc. Aah! Especially after living so many years in the hub of street food (Delhi & Mumbai), I seriously get disappointed when I am unable to go out after 6 pm. You have only two options, either go sit in a pub or have a proper dinner at some expensive restaurants. There is no in between thing. And I have started hating the American fast food joints like KFCs, McDs & pizza outlets. My stomach gets bloated and   I gain 2 kilos just by the look of it. That's when I miss my Indian Street food. Its not just about the food, its the whole idea behind it. Go with your family and friends, get your hands dirty, eat while standing and haggle with the vendor saying..."Bhayya ..Aur Theeka karo na", Bhayya, ek aur papdi"!! :)  Thanks to London, I have already discovered some Vada Pav shops & Chat restaurant...

Homemade Italian Garlic Bread

During the past couple of months, I have tried out many of my favourite dishes at home but when coming to posting recipes, I seriously am not getting time for it. June was completely bland as I have posted hardly one recipe. So to compensate that, I promise, July will be more palatable and interesting. So to start off, am bringing to you, everyone's favourite....the irresistible "Garlic Bread"!! This warm, buttery, garlicky bread can be made at home in no time that you will stop ordering  it from any pizza joint after relishing the home made. Perfect for any tea time parties. Bake it in 10 minutes and earn your brownie points. Forget the frozen garlic bread that you buy from the superstore and make your own at home, only it will be more fresh and delicious!!      Ingredients: 1 french loaf (I have used a cheese baton)  50 gm butter (room temperature) 4-5 cloves of garlic (or more according to your taste) 1 tbsp of finely ch...

Spanish Tortilla (Omelette)

Whenever I thought of making a simple omelette for my breakfast, I always wanted to try out the Spanish version of it but never made for the simple reason that it is super rich & heavy. But last weekend, I just couldn't resist & committed this sin. But my tummy was at peace. Ah! Tortilla! Sabroso! "Spanish Tortilla" is one of the popular Tapas dish in a Spanish cuisine. You should not miss out on this one. This Potato & onion filled thick omelette wedges complete any tapas combination. "Tortilla" in Spanish means "Little Cakes" & this sure looks & tastes like one. You can make these delicious rich tortillas and pack them up in your kids lunch boxes or can even serve as an appetizer at any evening parties. Chilli Gobi (Spiced Cauliflower)

"Chilli Gobi" is the most popular and the most wanted appetizer in any Indian Restaurant. As the name goes "Chilli", its a very spicy dish yet super tasty and you just can't stop eating after the very first bite. The recipe is very much similar to Gobi Manchurian, but this one is a dry dish with no gravy. The Chilli Gobis and Gobi Manchurians are a Chinese inspiration which the Indians improvised it to suit their own taste buds. We Indians have a tendency to make everything heavy and mostly fattening but we concentrate only on the TASTY OUTCOME!! Healthy living is always secondary for us!! ;) But once in a while, you can spoil yourself...aye..!!! 1 large cauliflower (cut into florets) Marination : 4 tbsp maida (plain flour) 3 tbsp cornflour 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 1/2 tsp coriander powder 1 tbsp soy sauce 1 tbsp chilli sauce 1/2 tsp ginger-garlic paste pinch of ajinomoto (MSG) salt to taste pinch of food colour (red) Bring water to boi...

Tandoori Chicken (Indian BBQ Chicken)

Hello Everyone! Its been a really long time sine I posted any dish on my blog. I was busy holidaying and lazying around for the past 3 weeks. I have umpteen number of dishes to post on the blog but was not getting time to put any of it. I was pre-occupied with the household chores, had been to my friend's place for a few days, then witnessed a Live Cricket Match in a stadium. My schedule was hectic but truly fun filled. I was in no mood to touch the Laptop after that. And now starts the Festive season of Indians . So am busy cooking up sweet dishes, every alternate day. I have a whole lot of pending recipes to show you all & I don't know where to start from. But for now, let me post my first pending dish which was in the queue for quite some time now. TANDOORI CHICKEN!! Any Indian Blog is missing something, if the blogger hasn't posted a recipe of India's most popular & Internationally renowned dish.... "Tandoori Chicken". ;) "Tandoor", in Hi...

Sausages in Ketchup

I just had to put this recipe before I forget it, because this recipe is so easy that it will get lost amidst the other mighty dishes on the blog. I first learnt this recipe from Arun's mom. She used to make this dish when she had no mood of cooking & wanted to close the kitchen soon, to be with us in the living room for a game of cards. :) Last week, this recipe came handy when we wanted to watch a movie on the television & I had to quickly finish off the kitchen chores. I have used "Lincolnshire Sausages", cos its the tastiest of all sausages what you get here in the UK. You can use any type of sausages or frankfurters. This can be had as a quick under 20 minute dinner or even as an appetizer. I suggest, you use the cocktail sausages when it is made as an appetizer. It will be a change from the usual "just roast the sausages" recipe. Take your notes and pen down this one fast. :) Ingredients : a pack of sausages (6-7 sausages approx) 1 medium onio...

Hara Kebab (Green Kebab)

My honest confession, when you start a food blog, there is no looking back. You just carry on cooking & cooking & cooking. The pressure is so much to cook good, versatile & different food every time. Especially when guests come home & if they are aware of your food blog, then you need to match or rather excel their expectations. My best friend came home this weekend & we had a great time together gossiping, shopping & of course eating glorious food. She is a hard core vegetarian, hence my cooking skills were put to test as I said before. So I ended up making delicious Hara Kebab for her. Kebab is often the grilled or roasted skewered meat which we all talk about. So I thought, why not make it vegetarian & give my friend a surprise. "yeah, Baby...eat those Kebabs right now"...Don't worry...Its vegetarian! ;) Also I came across a "spinach event" which is going on in one of the blogger's space, so I thought, why not make my first...
